Quick answer

TidyCal is the best scheduling app for lawyers who charge for their time. Clients pay when they book, with packages and subscriptions on the Free plan, and Individual Lifetime is $29 once. Pick Calendly if you run inbound sales on Salesforce or HubSpot, and Acuity Scheduling if you sell gift certificates or run a waitlist.

Keep intake light

TidyCal is a scheduling tool, not practice management software. Keep booking questions to basics like contact details, the type of matter and names for a conflict check, and keep confidential details in your firm's own systems. Your bar's rules on advertising, fees and client intake still apply, so check them before you publish a booking page.

How a small firm might set it up

Hartley Estate Planning is made up. The flow is common for flat-fee practices.

Booking type Length Price Type What it is for
Free 15-minute call 15 min Free Free, needs approval Is this our kind of matter? Conflict check first.
Initial consultation 60 min $250 Paid, needs approval Credited toward the flat fee if they hire you.
Document signing 45 min Free Free For existing clients only.

Screening questions

Three dropdown-heavy questions. They take a minute and save you a lot more.

  1. Type of matter (Will / Trust / Probate / Power of attorney / Other) On: Free 15-minute call
  2. Names of other people involved (for our conflict check) On: Free 15-minute call
  3. How did you find us? (Google / Referral / Another attorney / Other) On: Free 15-minute call

With manual approval on, nothing goes on the calendar until you have run the conflict check and said yes.

How a firm actually uses it

The booking page is embedded on the "Contact us" page of the firm's site. The phone number stays. The form just catches everyone who does not want to call.

A request comes in at 9pm: a trust, two named family members, found via Google. In the morning the paralegal runs the conflict check and approves it. TidyCal sends the confirmation.

The initial consultation is $250, paid at booking and credited toward the flat fee if they hire you. Paid consults show up. Free hour-long consults often do not.

For a partner and an associate, round robin spreads the free calls across both calendars.

Charge for the real consultation and credit it back if they hire you. It filters out free-advice shoppers, and it costs a real client nothing.

How we checked

Every competitor price comes from that company's own pricing page, read on September 30, 2026, at the billing period shown next to it. Tools with no published price we could verify carry no dollar figure. The ranking is for lawyers who take bookings and charge for some of them. Nobody paid to be on this list. TidyCal's prices come straight from the plans we sell, so they match what you will pay, and the 1% platform fee on Stripe bookings is the live rate.

Questions lawyers ask us

Can I charge for an initial consultation?

Yes. Connect Stripe or PayPal and set a price on the consultation. Clients pay when they book. Paid bookings are on every plan, including Free.

Can I review requests before they are booked?

Yes, on the Lifetime and Pro plans. Turn on manual approval and a request only goes on your calendar after you accept it.

Can a small firm share one booking page?

Yes. Agency Lifetime (up to 4 people) and Pro include a team booking page, round robin and collective bookings. Pro does not charge per seat.

Can I add the booking page to my website?

Yes. Embed your booking page or a single booking type on any website. Embedding is on every plan.

Can clients reschedule a consultation themselves?

Yes. Every confirmation has a reschedule link. On the Lifetime and Pro plans you can block reschedules inside a set window before the meeting.

Do prospective clients need an account?

No. They click your link, pick a time and enter their name and email.
