Quick answer

TidyCal is the best scheduling app for spiritual directors and faith coaches who charge for their time. Clients pay when they book, with packages and subscriptions on the Free plan, and Individual Lifetime is $29 once. Pick Acuity Scheduling if you sell gift certificates or run a waitlist, and Calendly if you run inbound sales on Salesforce or HubSpot.

Why this is different from coaching

Direction is slow on purpose. People meet about once a month, often for years. The scheduling should disappear. What usually happens instead is a four-email chain every month to find a Tuesday.

And money is tender. Many directors offer a sliding scale, and asking someone "what can you afford?" to their face is the fastest way to make a first session awkward.

So the setup below does two things: it holds a monthly time with one booking, and it lets people pick their rate without saying a word.

Here is how a director might set it up

Grace is fictional. The three rates are the same 60-minute session at different prices; the directee picks the one that fits.

Booking type Length Price Type What it is for
First conversation 30 min Free Free Meet, listen, see if it feels right. For both of you.
Monthly direction (standard) 60 min $90 Recurring, monthly The full rate.
Monthly direction (reduced) 60 min $60 Recurring, monthly Same session. Pick what you can pay.
Monthly direction (supported) 60 min $30 Recurring, monthly No questions asked.

Example prices. Charge what you charge.

Do not label the rates "for low income" or make people explain themselves. "Standard, reduced, supported" is enough. People are honest when you trust them.

Our take, from the TidyCal team

Gentle questions

Only on the first conversation. The second one is optional on purpose.

  1. How would you like to meet? (In person / Zoom / Phone) On: First conversation
  2. Is there anything you would like me to know before we talk? (optional) On: First conversation

You will learn far more in the first ten minutes of sitting together than any form could tell you.

Settings

SettingWhat to setWhy
Buffer 20 minutes Time to pray, reflect or write before the next person.
Recurring Monthly, 6 sessions Book the rhythm once, revisit it in six months.
Reminders 24 hours and 1 hour before (default) On for every plan.
Location Your address, a phone number or a Zoom link Set it per session type.

How a director actually uses it

Grace puts the link on her website and in her email signature, and hands out a small card at her parish with the address on it. That is the entire marketing plan.

Someone books the first conversation. Before they arrive she knows whether they want to meet in person or on Zoom, and anything they chose to share.

If it feels right for both of them, she sends the link for the monthly rate they talked about. They pick a day and a time, and six months of sessions land on both calendars.

The reminders do the rest. Nobody has to write "are we still on for Tuesday?" again.

What TidyCal costs

Free, $0

Most of the setup above. Group classes, approvals, cancellation fees, booking limits and automatic video links need a paid plan. Not a trial.

Individual Lifetime, $29 once

Pay one time through AppSumo. Adds group bookings, custom reminders, automatic Zoom and Google Meet links, and 10 calendars.

Pro, $12/mo or $99/yr

All of it, with no TidyCal branding, unlimited calendars and team scheduling with no seat fees.

Stripe and PayPal charge their usual processing fees on paid bookings. On the Free plan, Stripe bookings also carry a 1% TidyCal platform fee. See payment fee details. Compare every plan.

How we checked

Every competitor price comes from that company's own pricing page, read on September 30, 2026, at the billing period shown next to it. Tools with no published price we could verify carry no dollar figure. The ranking is for spiritual directors and faith coaches who take bookings and charge for some of them. Nobody paid to be on this list. TidyCal's prices come straight from the plans we sell, so they match what you will pay, and the 1% platform fee on Stripe bookings is the live rate.

Questions spiritual directors and faith coaches ask us

Can I offer a sliding scale?

Yes. Create the same session at a few prices and let people choose, or share a discount code privately. Both work on the Free plan.

Can I offer free sessions?

Yes. Leave the price empty and the session is free to book. You can mix free and paid sessions on one page.

Can I meet in person and online?

Yes. Set the location on each session type: an address, a phone number or a video link. Zoom, Google Meet and Teams links are created automatically on the Lifetime and Pro plans.

What does TidyCal cost?

The Free plan is $0 and includes unlimited session types and bookings. Individual Lifetime is $29 one time, and Pro is $12 a month or $99 a year.

Do directees need an account?

No. They click your link, pick a time and enter their name and email. Nothing to sign up for.
